How to use LoopStream

LoopStream connects a viewer (like your Apple TV) to a host — a device such as your Mac or phone running LoopStream that shares a folder of media. Once connected, you browse the host's shared library and play any item right on your TV.

  1. Open LoopStream on the device that holds your media (Mac or phone) and choose a folder to share.
  2. Open LoopStream on your Apple TV.
  3. Pick your host from the list on your Wi-Fi — or connect with your phone, or enter the address manually.
  4. Browse the shared folder and select a photo or video to play.

Connect your Apple TV with your phone

  1. On Apple TV, open LoopStream and choose “Connect with your phone”.
  2. A pairing code (QR) appears on the TV screen.
  3. Open the LoopStream app on your phone and scan the code.
  4. The TV connects automatically and your shared library appears.

Enter a host address manually

If you already know the host's address, choose Enter address manually on Apple TV and type it in.

  • On the same Wi-Fi, use the host's local address and port, e.g. 192.168.1.50:7391.
  • From outside your network, paste a remote link, e.g. https://share.loopara.app/your-host.
  • Then select Connect. The shared library opens once the host responds.

Troubleshooting

No hosts found on Wi-Fi

  • Make sure the host device (Mac or phone) is on and has LoopStream open with a folder shared.
  • Make sure both devices are on the same Wi-Fi network — the same router and the same band/guest settings.
  • Some networks block local discovery. If reviewing or connecting from outside the local Wi-Fi, use a remote link instead.
  • Double-check the host address and port if you entered them manually (default port is 7391).

Playback won't start

  • Confirm the host is still running and the file still exists in the shared folder.
  • Try another item to rule out a single unsupported file.
  • Restart the LoopStream app on both the host and the Apple TV.

Privacy

  • No account is required to use LoopStream.
  • No tracking — we don’t profile you or sell your data.
  • Your media connection is controlled entirely by you: you choose what to share, with which device, and you can stop at any time. Media streams between your own devices.
